Jennifer Byrd M.S., L.P.C., N.C.C. | EMDR Trained
I believe humans all have the potential to develop, grow, and heal. I earned a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Missouri State University in 2023. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I work with individuals and couples on issues related to depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, career struggles, self-esteem, women’s issues, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, and grief. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including person-centered talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR). I use the Gottman Method in my work with couples. I love to learn and think deeply, and I’ve been influenced by humanistic, psychodynamic, existential, and Jungian perspectives. I am sensitive to the complexities of how the biological, psychological, and social aspects of our lives play a role in how we are feeling and symptoms we may be struggling with. I believe therapy is a deeply personal experience and the relationship between the client and therapist is the most important element in helping you heal. It is a shared undertaking where a person can discover new ways of being and relating to the world.
I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC). In addition to my mental health training, I have a M.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas and a M.S. in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University.
