Elissa Smith, M.S., P.L.P.C. | EMDR Trained

Elissa Smith MS PLPC

I like to describe my style as a relational approach - where I come alongside you as we wander into what might feel like unknowns, painful wounds, or old familiarities. One thing is for certain, you won't be alone in whatever might surface. I enjoy working with clients who are interested in deep exploration of trauma, identity shifts, and the felt-sense of their experiences. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, therapeutic space for you to explore parts of you that you naturally have curiosity to explore. Part of this process means coming together to uncover the road map that has shaped you into the human you are today.

I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling from Missouri State University in 2023. As a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), I work primarily with adults and adolescents through a person centered approach. I am an EMDR-trained therapist who uses an integrative approach to help you explore parts of you that might feel too complex to untangle on your own. I focus primary on the integration of the mind and body, through the approach of EMDR and other modalities such as sandtray, somatic practices, mindfulness, and expressive activities.

I like to extend the invitation of being curious towards the stories your nervous system might have to tell you. I believe as we learn to tell our stories, it is then we are able to bear witness to the pain we carry and uncover the gentle nudges within ourselves. My goal for you would be to feel a new found strength and comfort, as you learn to show up and honor the stories of your lived experiences.
